COMPLEX BUSINESS is a publication that brings together a compilation of 212 pages of drawings from the artist, done between 2017 and 2024. These drawings have been scanned, photocopied and scanned again, offering a journey of poetic sorrow and some inner wounds, feelings of dispair and hope entangled in queer blues. If you like skateboarding and binary questioning, this book might be for you.

This book has been made in loving memory of Albert Yaying Xu (1934 – 2023).

Sunday night is an era. The era where the frantic past collapses with your wills and desires to be better the week after. Week….as if time was real. Town wants to bring you to a status where Logic is just a sound program and order is out of itself.

Parallel gatherings masticating your spoken words of mouth, kisses for your soul are jamming into oscillations, deep listenings and discussions are seances, voice-overs collaging across town. Gather around and get out of town! get out of town!

All roads lead to town.

The Town night crew met at Städelschule, erupting from an interest in live events, subliminal sound connections and late dinners. Their show emerged from Radio Ufff, a 13 hour long radio program which took places over the course of three nights at the exhibition space fffriedrich and was streamed live on radio x – a pre-Town era experiment consisting of sound pieces, stories, collages, sleepovers. Then Town started with warm dinners.

Every 2nd Sunday of the month at 10pm the crew will host an one hour show, all guided by different Town guards and each linked with a collateral live-event outside of the radio studio.

For this show we have received a handful of delicate recordings after a request for Unidentified Humming Sounds (UHS).

We’ve received crevasses resonating, emotional machines, human insects, digital angels... then wove them into new compositions. People have interpreted humming is many ways and we found it so interesting to work with these sounds!

We will play these harmonic layers along the side of some memorable humming hits. Also we’ll touch upon the destructive potential of frequencies and their soothing properties.

This Sunday & then every Wednesday of the exhibition, a different arrangement of sounds and artists will unfold in the garden of Portikus. We gather and improvise surrounded by the sonic architecture of the Island and its building... I'm very excited to start off with @larrybonchaka @mahyaket @ianwaelder @careerist_amnesia, Wolfgang and Mike. Dearest @man_rei will be in charge of the sound-tech, thank you all so much and see you in 2 days!

This Wednesday at 18:00 the scenography will change in the garden of @kunsthalle_portikus ... according to the new instrumental arrangement. 3 drums (Jack, Thomas & Me) will be accompanied by synths played by the one and only @mimixumusic. @man_rei will support us behind the mixer and balance everything out with her sensitive earskils
